Project Ideas still gathering (non-visible/hidden) supports after reaching the 10k mark
With the problematic of the huge number of projects per review, many people are suggesting their personal solutions- including some controversial ones like increasing the total of required supports (15.000 supporters? 20.000? 100.000?, or making some vote/poll system.
At now, we have another imminent new review batch with again +30 projects, so It's an appropriate moment (before the following one starts) to test the waters with a cautious hybrid measure that won't alter the way LEGO Ideas currently works/operates to the public:
To allow any active Ideas project to get supports even after reaching the 10.000 mark, witout any specific limit.
10k would still be the minimum number required to enter in the LEGO Review Process. Once the number is achieved, the support button wouldn't lock, it would be still possible to vote but the number of accumulated supports wouldn't be displayed to the public anymore.
The goal with this is to provide solid data to The LEGO Group and the Ideas Team, to use internally. It would allow to the review board to check which projects got the supports by passive accumulation over time; which ones were the result of a volatile trend, now forgotten; which ones were viral but are still relevant months later; or which ones are still receiving constant community support even during the review process.
This soft change may work as a solution in the short term. If an increase of required supports is on the table in the long term, this solution may stil be used to determine a fair and realistic new number of required supporters.
