In June, 2016 we updated our Guidelines and House Rules to
your projects fit within the scope of what we’re able to produce as LEGO Ideas
sets. In the past we have stated in our Guidelines and House Rules that members may not submit projects that are “modifications,” “improvements,” or “expansion sets” to existing or past LEGO sets. With this new guideline we are sharpening our guidelines regarding such "follow-up" products based on LEGO Ideas submissions.
As a result, we will no longer be able to approve projects submitted to LEGO Ideas that are based on the licenses (IPs) below. In addition, once
we approve a licensed project for production through LEGO Ideas, we’ll archive
other projects based on the same property and not accept new submissions based on the that property.
We will also not accept concepts substantially similar to the following original Ideas products:
- Back to the Future
- Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover
- The Big Bang Theory
- Doctor Who
- Adventure Time
- Caterham Super Seven
- The Beatles
- Apollo 11 Saturn V
Please do note that we will however continue to accept project submissions based on licenses such as NASA or JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). What we won't allow are specific vehicles such as the Shinkai, Hayabusa, Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover or Apollo 11 Saturn V.
