Could this also include contest entries, as at the moment "top" is default and the new submissions are not getting initial views. With contests, where hundreds of submissions are made in a short period of time, this means that many new entries just do not get the views and possibly support that they deserve.

Wouldn't the option to edit only be available to the account user? So only the account user would be able to delete the entry. I do not see a problem with having the ability to delete an entry, as it would not affect the outcome of the contest in any way.

Make it possible to update or edit competition entries.
I understand that competition entries need to be moderated to make sure that they comply with the competition rules and Lego standards but being unable to edit or update an entry means that if a person wants to update or edit they have to re-submit it as a new entry. This means losing conversation threads or support as the new entry is not connected to the original. Would it be possible to have update as an option with updated entries going back into submission phase to be moderated and once re-approved being put back up without losing any threads?
