Show the most recent submissions under "Product Ideas" as default
After the latest update it shows "top" results instead of "most recent". New submissions will not be noticed by many with this setting as a default unless you have many followers.

@Mark Bellis That could be a solution, indeed.

And then in the fan/crowd vote those entries would win because they're the ones the users actually checked out.

As stated in the title, old but much commented entries get on top for new visitors, however they are not necessarily the ones worth checking, yet they get even more and more popular just because they are on top, therefore they receive new comments more easily. Pretty self escalating... And self explanatory. :)

On the top bar of the website, where it says "Explore" and "Community"
make a new link to the newest ideas. This would give more support to people with new projects. -

By default, the home page sorts ideas by most popular. This is not clear what it really means, it looks like a miscellaneus between vote per day, message per day, or view per day.
This system is not clear because there are some ideas, that are in the homepage for days even if they get 1 vote or 1 comment per day, before of ideas getting 50/100 vote and comments.
Moreover this system will put many ideas in a sort of limbo, as at some point, they wil be no more the newest, not yet the most supported, not the most popular (whatever it means), so even if they may be good ideas, they may be hard to find.
I think that by defoult the home page should sort the ideas randomly at every refresh, and then users can also choose to sort by most popular, most supported and so on.
Anyway the "most popular" system should be improved, showing the ideas starting by the one that obtained more supporters the day before, just this, not other criteria that can be hacked too easily.
That would be fair, because one idea can get more supporters than another, or because it is better, or because the builder is working harder to advertise it

This feedback suggestion is concerning the newest update to the Discover page with the Contests and Activities being more separated on it.
I observed that when you click the new Activity and Contest boxes, what automatically comes up is the tiles of the different activities and contests categories. I know when I first clicked onto one of these new boxes I was expecting to automatically see the newest postings in these categories just like I was always used to but instead I have to click a filter in order to see them.
What I suggest is that you change the auto filter so when we click the new Activity and Contest boxes the newest postings automatically appear just like in the Product Ideas category. I believe that this would make it simpler and easier to view the newest Activity and Contest postings, especially to those of us who are regulars.
Thank you so much for reading my suggestion :0) -

Can there be some settings in your profile preferences, so that I can set it to "top" or "most recent" and "product ideas" by default but so that others can set theirs to other options?

I think that new entries have lack of attention because of the "top" entries order. We had separate "top" tab and that war correct decision.

Could this also include contest entries, as at the moment "top" is default and the new submissions are not getting initial views. With contests, where hundreds of submissions are made in a short period of time, this means that many new entries just do not get the views and possibly support that they deserve.

yes please

Totally agree: as long as you don't want to miss a possible good surprise in the new entries, you need to add an extra step, where it was displayed directly in the previous version; a " three-votes problem " for my part. ;-)
